9. A song from the musical I know all (or nearly all) the lines to.
This is an easy one for me to pick. South Pacific is one of the true warhorses of the American musical theatre and it seems like every theatre on the planet has done the show at some point. I should know because I have done five different productions of this musical at five different theatres in 1980, 1984, 1987, 1990 and 1993. Maybe it’s because I’m so butch, or because I’ve got a well-shaped head and look really hot with a crewcut, or because I’ve always had a muscular, meaty neck which makes me look kind of military-like. Whatever the reason, I have spent almost a year-and-a-half of my life doing this show. I sing along catching a scene from the movie on cable or watching the whole thing on DVD, listening to the original 1950 Broadway cast album, or mouthing all the words at yet another local theatre’s production of the show. Heck, I even know all the girls' songs as well. I picked “There is Nothin’ Like a Dame” because it is such a fun song for the guys to sing. The video clip is from the 1958 movie, not the best production of the show by a long shot but entertaining enough.

Day 9 Musical Theatre Song Challenge: “There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame”
